Standing Room Only Showing

That's right, the Chick Documentary showing in Hollywood Saturday night was standing room only... because it was shown in an art gallery with no chairs! Mr. Sala, curator of the show at Synchronicity Space, reported the showing went well and the audience stood dutifully through the entire 80 minute production (which is more than I could have done)!

On a related note, the Documentary Channel wants to purchase the film to carry on their Network. So if you don't want to buy one, check your local listings. It may be coming to a cable channel near you!

Hollywood Art Show to Feature New Jack Chick Documentary

Kieran Sala, an avid Chick tract collector, is also curator of a new gallery show in LA of religious album covers. The title is "Within Heaven's Earshot: Religious Album Covers." It is hanging at Synchronicity Space in East Hollywood. It closes on April 12th, Easter Sunday.

This coming Saturday March 28th, they will be screening God's Cartoonist: The Comic crusade of Jack Chick. Sala writes, "This is a documentary about the fellow who creates those politically incorrect yet very entertaining, religious mini-comics. He is a very curious fellow who is so afraid for his life, he refuses to be photographed. He is guaranteed to offend everyone."

Alumni opposition is mounting to the University of Notre Dame's invitation to President Obama to be a commencement speaker in May. The anger is fueled all the more since the historically Catholic school decided to award a doctoral degree to the outspoken pro abortion politician. (Obama was one of the few politicians to support partial birth abortions, and has recently overturned the ban on using human embryo cells for research.)

Inviting the most pro-abortion president in history to speak at a Catholic school is not the only issue, according to David Castanzo is a spokesman for the Cardinal Newman Society. "For a Catholic institution to make a clear and decisive move to award a doctoral degree to an individual who is so opposed to the pro-life movement, that is where the primary conflict comes into play," he explains. Chick Documentary to Play in Australia

Our documentary on Jack Chick is scheduled to play in Sydney Australia on March 27th. Australia has a vibrant Chick tract community, with several tracts actually being printed in that country to lower postal costs. One of Chick's wordless Gospel tracts was designed for neighboring New Guinea for their native population that cannot read. See Chick's Wordless Gospel.

Obama Supports Gay Normalization For World

The Obama administration announced it will endorse a U.N. declaration calling for the worldwide decriminalization of homosexuality that then-President George W. Bush had refused to sign. U.S. officials said Tuesday they had notified the declaration's French sponsors that the administration wants to be added as a supporter.

When it was voted on in December, 66 (less than half) of the U.N.'s 192 member countries signed the declaration — which backers called a historic step to push the General Assembly to deal more forthrightly with anti-homosexual discrimination. But 70 U.N. members outlaw homosexuality -- and in several, homosexual acts can be punished by execution. More than 50 nations, including members of the Organization of the Islamic Conference, opposed the declaration.

Some Islamic countries said at the time that protecting sexual orientation could lead to "the social normalization and possibly the legalization of deplorable acts" such as pedophilia and incest. The declaration was also opposed by the Vatican. See Chick's DOOM TOWN.

God's Cartoonist Vs. Jason?

Well, not exactly. But ALL SAINTS CINEMA did run GOD'S CARTOONIST (our Jack Chick documentary) on Friday the 13th! It had a good turn out and most the audience stuck around to admire Chick materials on display after the film. Unfortunately, Jamie Lee Curtis was not spotted in the audience (but she could have been the one sitting behind me wearing that creepy mask and breathing real loud). See Chick's BOO! Bomb Thrower Threatens Being Bomb Dropper

Socialist zealot Hugu Chavez made another desperate attempt to destabilize Central America when he announced that he, as President of Venezuela, had agreed to let his country be a landing pad for Russian bombers heading to Western targets (like the USA). This is the same Chavez who invited Obama to join his Socialist Revolution days earlier. See Chick's IVAN THE TERRIBLE.

Obama Negates All Signing Statements, Then Issues His Own

On Monday of this week, President Barack Obama issued an order to the Executive Branch that all presidential signing statements issued by the Bush Administration are to be ignored unless specifically instructed by Attorney General Eric Holder. The president sought to set a new standard for his Administration, saying that he would not use signing statements, "to undermine the will of Congress."

That was Monday.

Then on Wednesday, President Obama issued his first signing statement on the $410 billion omnibus appropriations bill that he signed into law. In that signing statement, the president broke his own short-lived standard, expressly overturning the will of Congress and claiming that his Administration could simply ignore several provisions of the new law. Chick Skips March for New Tract

Chick publications skipped the release of a new tract this month. They generally release a new title every 60 days. They are moving the new tract to April to start releasing newer titles on the EVEN months instead of the ODD. The reason for this is unclear at this time, but we're told they will resume a new tract every two months hereafter.

Batgirl Goes From AC to DC

DC Comics is spotlighting a red-headed lesbian to take over for erstwhile Batman Bruce Wayne -- who suffered apparently fatal injuries in a recent issue of the Batman series.

Batwoman, whose daytime persona is Katherine "Kate" Kane, is described as "lesbian socialite by night and a crime-fighter by later in the night," and she's due to star in the series for at least twelve issues, beginning in June. The Batwoman character was first introduced in 1956 as a possible love interest for Batman. She didn't come out as a lesbian until 2006, after it was revealed that she was the ex-lover of a female police detective. See Chick's THE GAY BLADE.

Obama Okay's Embryos Exploitation

President Obama provides his pro-abortion supporters another victory by allowing Federal dollars to support stem cell research using human embryos. Former President Bush made it illegal, and scientists came up with new ways to grow the cells that did not require killing human embryos, but the reversal in policy will allow the old method to resume. Christians Lose Ground In Immigration

The 50 million immigrants that moved to America in the last 18 years are reducing Christian numbers and influence. A recent survey showed that the number of Americans who consider themselves Christians is now at 76%, down from the 86% it was when the survey was taken in 1990. Many of the 50 million new citizens are from third world nations with Muslim populations. See Chick's ALLAH HAD NO SON.

Widow Lashed 40 Times for Meeting Nephew

CAIRO - A 75-year-old widow in Saudi Arabia has been sentenced to 40 lashes and four months in jail for mingling with two young men who are not close relatives, drawing new criticism for the kingdom's ultraconservative religious police and judiciary. (One was a nephew, the other, his business partner. They were delivering bread to her.)

The woman's lawyer told the press on Monday that he would appeal the verdict against Khamisa Sawadi, who is Syrian but was married to a Saudi. The attorney, Abdel Rahman al-Lahem, said the verdict issued March 3 also demands that Sawadi be deported after serving her sentence. See Chick's MEN OF PEACE?

Rabbi Rapes, Then Rebukes Daughter

A 27-year-old woman from Brooklyn, N.Y., took the stand against her father -- whom she claims molested her from age 9 to 16 -- and was coldly cross-examined by him. Rabbi Israel Weingarten questioned and scolded the young woman, claiming that her allegations were untrue and stating that if she'd actually been abused she would have told someone.

The rabbi also raised the ire of the judge. "You have already created a fairly untenable and horrific situation by your deciding to represent yourself," said Judge John Gleason. "Now, I'm not sure where this cross-examination is going, but I know you are not going to lecture this witness."

Even the rabbi's own counsel is stunned by his behavior. "Is it possible it could get any worse than this?" said Weingarten's legal adviser, Barry Rhodes. The rabbi faces up to 50 years if convicted. See Chick's LISA.

Church Shooting Kills Pastor

MARYVILLE, Ill. -- A gunman walked down the aisle of a church during a Sunday service and killed the pastor, then stabbed himself and slashed two other people as parishioners wrestled him to the ground, authorities said.

The man walked into the sprawling brick First Baptist Church in Maryville shortly after 8 a.m. and briefly spoke with The Rev. Fred Winters before pulling out a .45-caliber handgun and shooting Winters once in the chest, said Illinois State Police Master Trooper Ralph Timmins.

The gun jammed before the man could fire again, Timmins said. The attacker then pulled out a knife and injured himself before churchgoers subdued him. Two parishioners involved in the struggle also suffered knife wounds. See Chick's THE THIEF.

9-Year-Old Incest Victim stirs Catholic Abortion Controversy

RIO DE JANEIRO (March 6) - A 9-year-old girl who was carrying twins, allegedly after being raped by her stepfather, underwent an abortion Wednesday despite complaints from Brazil's Roman Catholic church. Police said the stepfather has been jailed since last week.

Abortion is illegal in Brazil, but judges can make exceptions if the mother's life is in danger or the fetus has no chance of survival. Fatima Maia, director of the public university hospital where the abortion was performed, said the 15-week-old pregnancy posed a serious risk to the 80-pound girl. "She is very small. Her uterus doesn't have the ability to hold one, let alone two children," Maia told the Jornal do Brasil newspaper.

But Marcio Miranda, a lawyer for the Archdiocese of Olinda and Recife in northeastern Brazil, said the girl should have carried the twins to term and had a cesarean section. "It's the law of God: Do not kill. We consider this murder," Miranda said in comments reported by O Globo.

Sen. Edwards Admits Fathering Baby

Former Presidential hopeful Senator John Edwards admits he is the father of the baby from his mistress. Earlier last year, one of the Democrat's top aids claimed he was the father instead of Edwards. Edwards also denied fathering the child while his wife was suffering from cancer and he was running for President. Mainstream media ignored the story for nearly a year until Edwards lost in the primaries and the National Inquirer ran photos of him holding the baby. By postponing the truth until now, he seems to have dodged the headlines this time around. See Chick's CAUGHT.

Chavez Encourages Obama to Join Him

President Hugo Chavez encourages President Obama to join him in a socialist revolution in America. Chavez, a dedicated Marxist and Castro supporter, has dedicated his life to turning Venezuela into a Socialist nation. Now, encouraged by Obama's talk of limiting free enterprise and expanding government control in the USA, he has challenged Obama to go all out with socialists goals here. Muslim Woman Behead by Husband in NY

A woman was beheaded last month at the Buffalo, N.Y., television network building she and her husband founded a few years earlier. She was killed as her young children and a stepson waited for her in a car outside the station. Aasiya Hassan, 37, was slain Feb. 12 at Bridges Network Inc., a company she and her husband, Muzzammil Hassan, founded in 2004 to counter negative stereotypes against Muslims. Aasiya Hassan filed for divorce Feb. 6. Her estranged husband, 44, has been charged with second-degree murder. See Chick's MEN OF PEACE?
