Famous Child Rapist Arrested in Switzerland

Director Roman Polanski was taken into custody, Swiss police confirmed Sunday, on a 1978 U.S. arrest warrant for having sex with a 13-year-old girl.
Polanski was flying in to receive an honorary award at the Zurich Film Festival when he was detained late Saturday at the airport, festival organizers said in a statement.

Switzerland and the United States have an extradition treaty dating back to the 1950s that is still in force. Polanski fled the U.S. in 1978, a year after pleading guilty to unlawful sexual intercourse with a 13-year-old girl. He was charged making the child drunk, then raping and sodomizing her. The 1978 judge planned on letting Polanski off by just having him serve 42 days, but changed his mind after pulbic outrage made him consider a more routine sentence.

The 76-year-old director of such classic films as "Chinatown" and "Rosemary's Baby" has asked a U.S. appeals court in California to overturn a judges' refusal to throw out his case.

Polanski has lived for the past three decades in France, where his career has continued to flourish. He received a directing Oscar in absentia for the 2002 movie "The Pianist."

Polanski paid the victim an undisclosed amount and since that time, she has made public statements saying the matter should be closed and he should get off. But the law doesn't allow the victim to decide the punishment, nor does it take into account that Polanski jumped bail and has been a fugitive from justice for over 30 years. See Chick's THE TRIAL.

Democrats Gerrymander Senate

Encouraged by the lack of negative press after stealing Republican Senators Ron Coleman's seat and replacing him with liberal comedian Al Franken, Democrats go a step further this week by retroactively changing the rules for selecting a replacement for Senator Ted Kennedy. The old rules allowed the public to choose the Senator, instead of the Governor. Democrats also altered those rules just four years ago to prevent the (then Republican) Governor from having a chance to pick a Republican replacement if Democrat John Kerry were elected president. Now that the Governor is a Democrat, the party has switched the rules back again, and increased the stakes by removing the 90 day appointment time for "emergency" reasons. The so called "emergency" is the political calculation that Democrats want to stack the deck in the Health Care Debate, and make certain they have a filibuster proof majority to force the Obama plan on America no matter how Republican's vote. From Chick's perspective, this is bad because it means the new plan will contain provisions for government funded abortions, as well as government controls on rationing (the so-called "death panels" which will give bureaucrats the power to determine what age groups get what procedures, and when expensive treatments should be held back from elderly patients). Told You So

As suspected in our Sept 9th post, Obama planned on sneaking illegals into the health care plan by granting them amnesty. He admitted Wednesday night to the Congressional Hispanic Caucus that he plans to get around his promise not to provide free healthcare to illegals by making them illegal citizens under "Comprehensive Immigration Reform", and thereby giving them all American social services (including Social Security) without them paying prior taxes for it. The admission satisfies illegals who want their health care paid for by others, but it will give Republicans (and Joe Wilson in particular) ammunition to prove Obama deliberately misled the joint meeting of Congress when he said Republican claims that illegals would be covered by his healthcare plan were "not true". Meanwhile, Joe Wilson was admonished by the Congressional Democrats for calling out the President on his claim. See Chick's THE SCOUNDREL.

Carter Race Baits Healthcare Debate

Former President Carter blames white racism on the majority opposition to Obama's Healthcare and Immigration plans. He suggested Rep. Joe Wilson was a racist to call out that Obama was a liar during the address to Congress.

"I think it's based on racism," Carter said. "There is an inherent feeling among many in this country that an African-American should not be president."

But Wilson's son disputed that. "There is not a racist bone in my dad's body," said Alan Wilson, an Iraq veteran who is running for state attorney general in South Carolina. "He doesn't even laugh at distasteful jokes. I won't comment on former President Carter, because I don't know President Carter. But I know my dad, and it's just not in him."

"It's unfortunate people make that jump. People can disagree — and appropriately disagree — on issues of substance, but when they make the jump to race it's absolutely ludicrous. My brothers and I were raised by our parents to respect everyone regardless of background or race."

Carter himself is dogged by allegations of anti-semitism for his remarks equating Jews to bigots. His 2007 book, "PALESTINE PEACE NOT APARTHEID" was an angry attack on the Jewish nation. It is recommended reading for Americans as suggested by Ossama Bin Laden in his most recent Al Qaeda recording (seriously! See link).

Ironically, protesters at the recent March on Washington predicted such race baiting for opposing Obama. One sign read, "It doesn't matter what this sign says, you'll say its racist."

Unfortunately, Carter's race baiting was as unseemly as Wilson's. To suggest the increased opposition to Obama is racist motivated ignores the fact that a majority voted for him and over 70% approved of him just 8 months earlier. Now only 42% support Obama and his plan. Carter is saying that 30% of Americans turned into racists overnight when they swapped sides. Does he think they didn't know Obama was black when they supported him earlier? (Perhaps Carter belongs in an "Assisted Thinking" facility.) See Chick's WHY NO REVIVAL.

Elton John, Gay Partner Denied Adoption of Boy

The Ukrainian orphan Elton John wants to adopt will not go home with the singer and his gay partner David Furnish, due to a national law that prohibits unmarried couples from adopting.

The singer toured a hospital for HIV-infected children in Ukraine on Saturday as part of a charity project and said that he and his boy friend wanted to adopt a 14-month-old boy, HIV-infected boy named Lev. But the country's Family, Youth and Sports Minister Yuriy Pavlenko said Ukraine does not recognize homosexual unions as marriage.

Pavlenko also said John was too old. The singer is 62 and Ukrainian law requires a parent to be no more than 45 years older than an adopted child.

"Foreign citizens who are single have no right to adopt children ... and the age difference between the adopter and the child cannot be more than 45 years," Pavlenko said. "The law is the same for everybody: for a president, for a minister, for Elton John."

John and Furnish, his gay partner, were one of the first legalized civil unions in the United Kingdom in 2005. See Chick's DOOM TOWN.

Prez Calls Palin Liar, Congressman Returns Favor

Obama chooses 9/9/9 to address a joint session of Congress to push for Socialized Health Insurance. In his speech, he dismissed the outpouring of public anger that his plan sparked during the August recess in town halls across the country. He claimed criticism was political, misguided, and manipulated. (52% disapprove of his plan, only 43% support it.) He then said that politicians and news personalities who warned about death panels were "a lie". Obama's statement was clearly pointed at Sarah Palin, who wrote in her Wall Street Journal editorial: “Is it any wonder that many of the sick and elderly are concerned that the Democrats’ proposals will ultimately lead to rationing of their healthcare by—dare I say it—death panels?” She then cited an April New York Times article that quoted Obama as saying this panel would guide medical decisions regarding the chronically ill and those toward the end of their lives. So although Obama's plan doesn't call them death panels, they clearly have the power to determine life and death of many taxpayers. Republicans were not amused at Obama's attack. When he followed up his Palin insult with another one aimed at those who claim illegal aliens will receive Government Health Care as being "false", Representative Wilson shouted back, "You lie!" Wilson has since apologized for his outburst (even though Obama hasn't apologized to Palin), but as a Representative of South Carolina, Wilson knows illegals are already receiving free health care, and costing border states like California billions every year. Moreover, the new Obama bill doesn't allow hospitals to run e-verify to determine citizenship of those requiring care. So Obama can say it won't provide taxpayer paid healthcare to illegals, just as he says it won't raise the debt, but common sense points the other direction. To be fair, however, he could be thinking of a loophole, in which all the illegals are given amnesty (another one of his promises to illegals) and therefore, they would receive the healthcare and would no longer be illegal. See Chick's GOING HOME.

Lawmaker Brags About Affair... on Mic

A Southern California Lawmaker resigned Wednesday amid growing outrage over a videotape that caught him bragging in graphic detail about having sex with a female lobbyist and another woman. Assemblyman Mike Duvall said in a statement the furor over his comments had begun to divert attention from the work his fellow lawmakers were trying to finish during the final week of their session. He is a Republican (which helps explain he resigned so quickly).

In a recording of a legislative hearing, Duvall can be heard talking about a recent sexual escapade with a woman he says is 18 years younger. "I'm getting into spanking her," Duvall is heard to say on the videotape. The other man asks if she likes it, too. Duvall responds: "She goes, 'I know you like spanking me.' I said, 'Yeah, that's 'cause you're such a bad girl.'"

Another woman he's having an affair with is also mentioned. One of the two women is a lobbyist for Utilities, which is a industry Duvall votes on.

The conversation was first reported by KCAL-TV in Los Angeles and the newspaper OC Weekly. The Associated Press later obtained a copy of the videotaped hearing. Duvall, an Orange County lawmaker, said it would not be fair to his family, constituents or friends to remain in office. See Chick's CAUGHT.

Church Killer Kills Baby

A Minnesota man was charged Tuesday with murder in a baseball bat attack at an African American church that left a toddler dead. Authorities said David Collins, tried to attack Claude Hankins inside the church in Wheaton but missed and struck Hankins' 14-month-old daughter instead. The two allegedly had a financial dispute. Religious 9-9-9 Hijacker Arrested

Hijackers seized a jetliner as it departed the resort city of Cancún on Wednesday and held the passengers hostage for about an hour before releasing them, Mexico's transportation secretary said. All of the passengers were freed and the hijackers arrested, Transportation Secretary Juan Molinari Horcasitas told TV Azteca television. He said the hijackers had threatened to explode a bomb but no bomb was found.

Mexico's security secretary says a Bolivian religious fanatic told police he hijacked a Mexican flight from the resort city of Cancun after receiving a divine revelation.

Public Safety Secretary Genaro Garcia Luna says Jose Mar Flores, 44, told police that Wednesday's date — 9-9-09 — is the satanic number 666 turned upside down.

Garcia Luna says Flores used a fake bomb to hijack the plane, then ordered the pilot to circle over Mexico City seven times. He said he wanted to warn Mexican President Felipe Calderon of an impending earthquake. So far, no earthquake has occurred, but if it does, they can't say they weren't warned. See Chick's THE WARNING.

Obama Celebrates Chronkite

President Obama and former president Bill Clinton also addressed hundreds of Mr. Cronkite’s friends and former colleagues at the memorial at Lincoln Center, which CBS called “A Celebration of Life.” It felt at times like a class reunion for TV news, and in particular for the legions of CBS News personnel who worked with Mr. Cronkite or wished they had.

One of Mr. Cronkite’s grandchildren, Walt, is working as an intern in the Washington bureau of CBS News for the fall semester, prompting Mr. McManus to say “the Cronkite tradition is alive and well at CBS News.”

Cronkite anchored the “Evening News” from 1962 to 1981, died July 17 at the age of 92. His funeral was held in Manhattan on July 23. He was a celebrated liberal who took credit for convincing America it couldn't win in Vietnam and helped bring down Nixon by being the first TV news anchor to focus on Watergate. His political views were even more prominent after his retirement, when he started writing newspaper columns. He urged Democratic candidates to run as open liberals, denounced conservatives in general (and Reagan in particular) and the "right wing views" of the Christian Coalition.

Maine Voters Decides To Undo Backroom Gay Deal

In a set back to Democrats in the state assembly who passed a law to allow gay marriage-- and the Democrat Governor who signed it-- the voters of Maine have decided to undo the politician's back room deal for gay special interest groups. Over 20,000 signed the petition to put the measure up for a public vote, twice the number required to do so. Polls show the pro-family forces will win in a landslide in November when they vote on the measure. Now the main question is, how many Representatives will also lose their jobs while the angry voters are at the ballot box, undoing the damage those same Representatives did in May when they started the mess? See Chick's BUSTED.

White House Pulls Political Ad from Schools

The White House pulls back from its attempt to have kids in public schools watch a pro-Obama video where Hollywood stars pledge to serve Obama and all mankind (as if the two are the same). Public schools had planned on showing the video and then having kids write essays about how to help the new President. Supporters saw nothing wrong with encouraging political goals in the classroom. Although many of them strongly oppose school prayer to God, they don't seem to mind worshipping a political figure in Public schools, and making the students pledge to support that politician. See Chick's BURN BABY BURN.
