Democrats Gerrymander Senate
Encouraged by the lack of negative press after stealing Republican Senators Ron Coleman's seat and replacing him with liberal comedian Al Franken, Democrats go a step further this week by retroactively changing the rules for selecting a replacement for Senator Ted Kennedy. The old rules allowed the public to choose the Senator, instead of the Governor. Democrats also altered those rules just four years ago to prevent the (then Republican) Governor from having a chance to pick a Republican replacement if Democrat John Kerry were elected president. Now that the Governor is a Democrat, the party has switched the rules back again, and increased the stakes by removing the 90 day appointment time for "emergency" reasons. The so called "emergency" is the political calculation that Democrats want to stack the deck in the Health Care Debate, and make certain they have a filibuster proof majority to force the Obama plan on America no matter how Republican's vote. From Chick's perspective, this is bad because it means the new plan will contain provisions for government funded abortions, as well as government controls on rationing (the so-called "death panels" which will give bureaucrats the power to determine what age groups get what procedures, and when expensive treatments should be held back from elderly patients). See Chick's WHO KILLED CLARICE?
