Kennedy Offers Spin To Pope
While Senator Ted Kennedy was dying from brain cancer, he wrote a letter to Pope Benedict XVI -- a letter that attempted to redefine his liberal activism in the Senate as activism for the Vatican. The correspondence claimed that his Catholic faith was his motivation for all his voting, promoting immigration, welfare, and socialized medicine. Not surprisingly, the letter made no mention of Kennedy's divorce, his well known drinking and womanizing, or his public and political support for abortion. He also failed to mention any American allegiance or his oath to defending the U.S. Constitution. The Pope had an aid write a response, which basically wished the Senator well and made no comment on Kennedy's liberal voting record. See Chick's SUPERSTAR.
