Two Muslim Women Booted From Obama Backdrop

Two Muslim women attending Barack Obama's rally in Detroit on Monday said they were barred by campaign volunteers from sitting directly behind the presidential candidate because they wear head scarfs. The campaign volunteers seem to have wanted spectators that would project a non-Muslim image. Obama has been fighting a Pro-Muslim image due to his middle name (Husain), and his popularity among Anti-Israel, anti-American Muslim groups. This perception plays into Republican attempts to show him as weak on Terrorism. The image took another blow this week when a conference call with Senator Kerry suggested that if Obama were elected and Ben Laden were captured, Obama have Ben Laden tried as a civilian with all the rights and privilages of a US citizen in court... including the ability to be freed on technical grounds (i.e. if he was illegally kidnapped) or civil rights complaints by the likes of the ACLU (e.g., if he was too roughly treated).
