McDonald's GLBT promotion angers Christians

The American Family Association (AFA) has called for a boycott of McDonald's, saying the fast-food giant has refused "to stay neutral in the cultural war over homosexuality." McDonald's joined the National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce several months ago and placed an executive on the group's board of directors, in addition to donating to the chamber.

The association asked McDonald's to remove itself from the chamber but the burger-maker declined, leading to the boycott. "We're saying that there are people who support AFA who don't appreciate their dollars from the hamburgers they bought being put into an organization that's going to fight against the values they believe in," Tim Wildmon, the association's president, said yesterday.

"Hatred has no place in our culture," McDonald's USA spokesman Bill Whitman said. "That includes McDonald's, and we stand by and support our people to live and work in a society free of discrimination and harassment."

Since McDonald's has joined the National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce, it may add new meaning to a clown dressed in yellow who wants to play with children! "I'm Lovin' It!" Haw haw haw! See "Wounded Children"

Hallmark Cards Starts Selling Gay Marriage Cards

Hallmark Greeting Cards has announced it will begin selling same-sex wedding cards, even though same-sex marriage is legal in only two states. The purpose, they say, is to satisfy consumer demand. Last year Hallmark began offering "coming out" cards - as in "coming out of the closet" -- a euphemism for announcing homosexuality. Various groups (like www.afa.net) are protesting, however, and calling for consumer boycotts of Hallmark. See Chick's SIN CITY.

KC Catholics Pay $10 Million for Molestations

The Catholic Diocese of Kansas City-St. Joseph apologized Wednesday for the “fully unacceptable behavior” of priests that led to a $10 million settlement of sexual abuse lawsuits.

Bishop Robert W. Finn said the diocese had agreed to the tentative settlement and to steps that would help prevent a repeat of abuses cited by 47 victims who filed lawsuits against a total of 12 priests. Finn has to consult two diocesan boards before signing the final agreement.

The plaintiffs said they had been molested as youths, mostly between the 1950s and the early 1980s. Some victims said the diocese tried to cover up the abuses and moved priests from one parish to another, rather than deal with the problem. It is the latest in a long list of similar lawsuits across the country of mostly gay priests abusing young teenaged boys. See Chick's ALBERTO.

Obama's Half Brother Found

An Italian version of Vanity Fair purports in its latest edition to have tracked down Senator Obama's brother, George Obama, living in obscurity in a dirt hut in a shanty town on the outskirts of Nairobi, Kenya. The poor man says he is surviving on less than a dollar a month. Obama met his half brother as recently as 2006, but has apparently made no effort to help his brother out of poverty. It is especially ironic, since Obama told a recent debate audience that his favorite scripture was that we are judged based on how we treat the least of our brothers.

George is not very happy about his situation. "No one knows who I am," he told the magazine, saying he is too embarrassed to admit to anyone that the man running for the White House in America is his half-brother because of his abject penury. "If anyone says something about my surname, I say we are not related. I am ashamed." See Chick's GOING HOME.

California Gives Another Gay Victory

The California Supreme Court, which recently legalized same-sex marriage, ruled by a 7-0 vote that Christian doctors could not refuse to artificially inseminate lesbians.

Justice Joyce Kennard wrote in the ruling that two Christian fertility doctors who refused to artificially inseminate a lesbian have neither a free speech right nor a religious exemption from the state's law, which "imposes on business establishments certain antidiscrimination obligations."

Doctors at the Christian clinic referred the lesbian to another clinic, but the lesbian refused their referral - demanding that the Christian clinic perform the procedure. When the Christian doctors refused to violate their religious convictions, the lesbian sued and the Supreme Court gave her the victory. (How much money they want is not currently known.)

This ruling will affect every business in California. If a similar victory in a federal court is won, every business in America will be affected. For example: Alabama Fertility Specialists (AFS) has begun a campaign to bring Honda of Alabama to its knees because Honda will not cover artificial insemination for a lesbian in it’s insurance. McCain and Obama Debate at Church

Megachurch leader and social activist Rick Warren hosts a debate for Obama and McCain at his Saddleback Church in Lake Forest, CA. Obama was expected to upstage McCain but instead McCain seemed more at home and better prepared, so much so that the Obama side accused McCain of cheating. They floated rumors that McCain knew the questions in advance. In truth, both candidates were told the first several questions and given a basic direction of what to expect. See Chick's THE CHOICE.

Prayers Go Up and Gas Prices Go Down

A Washington DC group called PRAYER AT THE PUMP is taking credit for the dropping of gas prices. The small group of black Christians has been holding prayers at gas stations to reduce the price of gas since April, and now they say their efforts have paid off. They point out the price of a gallon of gas has dropped from $4.09 to $3.77. See Chick's THE MAD MACHINE.

Details of Edwards Scandal Get Worse

Publicist Pigeon O'brian, a former friend of Senator John Edward's mistress, tells CBS news that the child belongs to Edwards and that the mistress fully intended on marrying Edwards after his current wife died from cancer. She also indicated the affair started before the mistress was hired, making it appear that campaign money was used to reward the girlfriend for being loyal. See Chick's BUSTED.

Chicago Catholic Sex Scandal = $12.5 Million

The Chicago Catholic Diocese agreed to settle with victims of gay priest abuse to the tune of $12.5 million. Chicago is the latest major city to pay a multi-million dollar settlement rather than allow victims to testify in public about the sexual exploitation of teenaged boys by Catholic priests. It's beginning to look like the abuse was more the rule, rather than the exception. See Chick's ALBERTO comic.

Alberto's Widow Stars in Short Movie

Nury Rivera, widow of Alberto Rivera, stars in a new DVD called IDOLS HAVE NO POWER. The Spanish movie has English subtitles and follows a Spanish woman (Rivera) as she is seduced by the power of Virgin Mary idol. She eventually experiences a super-natural event that sets her straight. Nury Rivera does a remarkable job in the role, ab libbing much of her dialogue as the camera runs. Alberto had charisma, but Nury can really act!

New Details on Edwards Affair

It turns out that the "confession" by Edwards was actually forced by a dramatic late night confrontation at the woman's hotel room. Edwards was caught red-handed by reporters leaving the woman's room a couple of weeks ago, and ended up barricading himself in the men's room and calling police help! Yet he tells reporters the affair was over in 2006. Yeah, right... Maybe he was "ministering" to the woman the same way Hillary Clinton claimed her husband was "ministering" to Lewinsky. Speaking of Hillary, Mrs. Edwards is following the former first ladie's lead and blames the media for exposing her husband's cheating and causing her pain... apparently the man had no responsibility for it at all! See Chick's CAUGHT!

Edward's Offer for DNA Test conveniently Unavailable

WASHINGTON (AP) - The ex-mistress of former presidential candidate John Edwards said Saturday she will not participate in DNA testing to establish the paternity of her daughter.

Rielle Hunter's lawyer, Robert Gordon, says his client is a private individual who is not running for public office and that she wishes to maintain the privacy of her and her daughter.

"Rielle is therefore making no statement now or in the future," Gordon said in a statement. "Furthermore, Rielle will not participate in DNA testing or any other invasion of her or her daughter's privacy now or in the future."

On Friday, Edwards admitted to having an extramarital affair with Hunter in 2006 but denied that he was the father of Hunter's 5-month-old daughter. Edwards offered to take a paternity test to prove he is not the father.

Hunter's decision means that the issue of who the father is remains an open question. Since the professed father was an Edwards campaign aid, it makes it look even more suspicious. See Chick's THE ROYAL AFFAIR.

Christian Biker Gang Arrested

NEWPORT BEACH – Five followers of a self-described Christian motorcycle club were charged Friday with a range of felonies, including gang crimes, for their role in a bar brawl that led to the stabbing of at least one Hell's Angel member.

The members of Set Free Soldiers were arrested earlier this week in a dramatic early morning raid involving 150
SWAT team members. They were booked for investigation of conspiracy to commit murder but on Friday faced lesser charges stemming from the brawl they had with Hell's Angels at a Newport Beach bar late last month. Several were charged with possession of firearm by a felon. One Hell's Angel member has been charged with having a concealed weapon.

Friends and family of Set Free Soldiers members said the group was not a biker gang, but was a Christian ministry that reaches out to former convicts, drug addicts and others on society's fringes.

The group, founded by Aguilar in 1982, runs several drug rehabilitation centers in Southern California and attracts up to 200 parishioners to its Saturday night services in Anaheim.

Prosecutor Erik Petersen said he believed, however, that the Set Free Soldiers had strayed from their roots and became a biker gang. He said police who raided the group's homes Wednesday found illegal weapons and cocaine. See Chaplain Dann's BIKERS WEEKEND tract.

Megachurch Wife Sued for Assault

The wife of megachurch evangelist Joel Osteen told jurors Friday she was "dumbfounded" and "shook up" after a flight attendant accused her of assaulting her over a spill on a first-class seat. Victoria Osteen, in court because the flight attendant is suing her, said she pushed no one and even ended up cleaning the spill that sparked the incident herself.

Continental Airlines flight attendant Sharon Brown claims Victoria Osteen grabbed, elbowed and pushed her before the start of a 2005 flight to Vail, Colo. Victoria Osteen and her husband, who also had been on board and testified earlier Friday, denied that account.

The couple are co-pastors of Houston's Lakewood Church, a converted basketball arena that draws about 42,000 people each week for services. Joel Osteen's weekly television address is broadcast nationally and internationally and he has written books that have been sold around the globe.

The couple already paid a $3,000 fine to "put the incident behind them", but now a lawyer has gotten into the act and wants serious money. He wants an apology to his client (Brown) and punitive damages amounting to 10 percent of Victoria Osteen's net worth as part of the lawsuit. (So she could "tithe" to the lawyers!)

Brown claims she suffers from depression and post-traumatic stress disorder because of the incident and that her faith has been affected. She is also suing for counseling expenses. She is probably getting paid disability payments and demanding time off for the "tramatic experience" as well. (Makes you wonder how she would handle an emergentcy landing!)

Gay former Gov. Dodges Alimony Bullet

Former New Jersey Gov. James E. McGreevey will not have to pay alimony to his ex-wife, a judge ruled Friday in granting the couple a divorce after a tumultuous eight-year marriage that crumbled publicly when McGreevey acknowledged he was a "gay American." The now resigned Democrat said he could not afford to pay his ex because he is --get this-- a poor seminary student! (What denomination?) He did not mention he is still living a lavish lifestyle provided by his new rich boyfriend. See Chick's BUSTED!

Senator John Edwards admits Affair

Presidential candidate John Edwards admits he had an affair with a woman his campaign paid $100,000.00 for directing internet ads for him. He denied the allegations earlier and mainstream media wouldn't report the allegations, but a tabloid reported the story and the facts soon became undeniable. Edwards insisted he told his ailing wife about the affair a year ago as she battled incurable cancer, but he did not say if he told her he was still meeting the woman in hotels as recently as a month ago (something he has since admitted to reporters). See Chick's GUILTY!

Bus Crash Kills 14 Vietmanese Catholic Pilgrims

A bus carrying 55 Vietmanese Catholics on a Marian Days religious pilgrimage crashed and killed 14 in Sherman Texas. The forty other passengers were injured (only one avoided being hurt). The bus was traveling to Missouri for a festival honoring the Virgin Mary when the tire blew out. (Perhaps they were following Obama's controversial suggestion about how to solve the energy crisis by adding air to the tires. If you inflate your tires, make sure you do so AFTER driving a while. Inflating cold tires the full amount can cause blow outs.) See Chick's THE PILGRIMAGE.

Texas Executes Mexican Killer

After 15 years of living at the taxpayer's expense (room, board, and all legal expenses) the admitted rapist and killer of a 16-year-old girl is finally put to death. Europe screams foul because the illegal Mexican wasn't provided access to Mexican officials, but the US Supreme Court ruled the execution justified. See Chick's FRAME UP.
