Marine Passes Out Bible Coins in Iraq

A Marine is removed from duty for passing out Bible coins to Islamic residents in Iraq. The solider was in charge of a checkpoint and would give the coins to various citizens. The coins had Bible verses printed on them in Arabic. He should have used Chick tracts... they had pictures too! See ALLAH HAD NO SON. For more on the story, see:

Pope Says It's Okay to Believe in UFOs

John Paul declared in 1992 that the Galileo trial was a mistake. Now the Jesuits declair believing in aliens is not unChristian.

From the AP: -- Believing that the universe may contain alien life does not contradict a faith in God, the Vatican's chief astronomer said in an interview published Tuesday.

The Rev. Jose Gabriel Funes, the Jesuit director of the Vatican Observatory, was quoted as saying the vastness of the universe means it is possible there could be other forms of life outside Earth, even intelligent ones.

"How can we rule out that life may have developed elsewhere?" Funes said. "Just as we consider earthly creatures as 'a brother,' and 'sister,' why should we not talk about an 'extraterrestrial brother'? It would still be part of creation."

Pope John Paul declared in 1992 that the ruling against Galileo was an error resulting from "tragic mutual incomprehension."

The Vatican Observatory has been at the forefront of efforts to bridge the gap between religion and science.

"I don't think we go to Heaven. I think we become Heaven. Heaven is right here." Sheen, a Roman Catholic who consideres himself very spirtual, passes out Rosary Beads to fans. Texas Court rules Raid was "illegal"

A Texas court rules the raid on the Mormon sect to rescue underaged girls from sexual abuse was illegal. One factor for the ruling was the State's failure to find the girl who called in the tip. She claimed she was 16 and forced into marriage and sex. (Did they check a few feet underground in the garden?) See Chick's THE ENCHANTER.

McCain Disavows Televangelist John Hagee

Republican Presidential candidate John McCain rejected the months-old endorsement of an influential Texas televangelist after an audio recording surfaced in which the preacher said God sent Adolf Hitler to help Jews reach the promised land.

"Obviously, I find these remarks and others deeply offensive and indefensible, and I repudiate them. I did not know of them before Reverend Hagee's endorsement, and I feel I must reject his endorsement as well," the presidential candidate said in a statement issued Thursday.

Hagee quickly responded that he was withdrawing the endorsement.

McCain actively courted Hagee, who leads a megachurch with a congregation in the tens of thousands and has an even wider television audience. Former GOP presidential rivals also sought Hagee's backing.

The preacher has controversial views that were well-known before McCain accepted his endorsement at a news conference Feb. 27 in San Antonio shortly before the Texas presidential primary.

Hagee has referred to the Roman Catholic Church as "the great whore" and called it a "false cult system." He also has linked Hitler to the Catholic church, suggesting it helped shape his anti-Semitism. And Hagee said Hurricane Katrina was God's retribution for homosexual sin.

McCain has faced a barrage of criticism, with some comparing the situation to the controversy faced by Democrat Barack Obama over the views of his former pastor, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright.

The Arizona senator has said he sought Hagee's support because the pastor, like himself, is a strong supporter of Israel.

The formation of Israel was at the heart of the remarks that prompted McCain to reject Hagee's support. The comments came in a sermon Hagee gave in the late 1990s, an audio recording of which was posted last week on the liberal blog "Talk to Action."

In his sermon, Hagee said, "Then God sent a hunter. A hunter is someone with a gun, and he forces you. Hitler was a hunter. ... How did it happen? Because God allowed it to happen. Why did it happen? Because God said, 'My top priority for the Jewish people is to get them to come back to the land of Israel."'

Hagee tried to repair the damage by apologizing to Catholics in a letter released just last week. Saying he had emphasized the darkest chapters in the history of Catholic and Protestant relationships with Jews, Hagee wrote, "I want to express my deep regret for any comments that Catholics have found hurtful."

Likewise, fellow televangelist Rod Parsley has endorsed John McCain, and McCain has faced similar pressure to distance himself from Parsley over the minister's statement that Islam was "an antichrist religion that intends through violence to conquer the world."

Hagee's and Parsley's views strongly parallel Jack T. Chick's worldview as reflected in the new documentary, "God's Cartoonist: The Comic Crusade of Jack T. Chick."

McCain Appears on Ellen Show, two discuss Marriage

Ellen DeGeneres had John McCain on her show and challenged him on his gay marriage views. The Republican Senator says gay couples should be allowed to enter into legal agreements for insurance and other purposes, but he opposes gay marriage and believes in "the unique status of marriage between and man and a woman." Ellen, the well known lesbian comedian, tried to pressure him to change his mind but he said they had to agree to disagree. She claims she's going to marry her long time gay girlfriend. (Isn't that special?) See Chick's THE GAY BLADE.

Christian Pilot's "Saved"

Two New Zealand pilots ran out of fuel in a microlight airplane and prepared to crash land. They offered prayers and were able to make an emergency landing in a field coming to rest right next to a sign reading, "Jesus is Lord." See Chick's FLIGHT 144

Army Snipers Pull PR Nightmare Stunt

BAGHDAD - President Bush has apologized to Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki for an American sniper's use of a copy of the Quran for target practice, Maliki's office said Tuesday. Bush also told the Prime Minister that the sniper would face trial for the incident. See Chick's THE CHAPLAIN.

$600-$1,000 tract found at Kinkos

I was making author Bob Fowler a Kinko's copy of rare one-of-a-kind tract, even more rare than the one that sold recently on ebay for $620 on ebay. I got home and five hours later, realized I LEFT THE TRACT in the copier during rush hour! I raced back over in a hopeless attempt to find it. Amazingly, it was STILL there. Whew! So you could say those super rare tracts are still out there in the public waiting to be found. Mine waited five hours on an open copier machine, and I just happened to be lucky enough to be the one who found it! Haw-haw-haw!

Albert Einstein Letter denounces God

A letter by Albert Einstein reveals he did not believe in God. The letter just sold in auction for $404,000. The letter was written to philosopher Eric Gutkind in January 1954, a year before Einstein's death. In it, the Einstein said that "the word God is for me nothing more than the expression and product of human weaknesses, the Bible a collection of honorable but still primitive legends which are nevertheless pretty childish." California Courts Overrules Voter Ban on Gay Marriage

The California Supreme Court overturns the voter approved ban on gay marriage. It seems that in most cases where gay marriage is permitted (including Canada) , it happens through judicial activism instead of democratic means. The next battle will probably be over a state constitutional amendment to ban it again. Meanwhile, in Hollywood, actress Jodi Foster leaves her long time Lesbian girl friend. (Maybe she was afraid she would now have to marry her, haw-haw!) See Chick's SIN CITY.
