House Leader Prays for Iraq success, then this...

The Democrat leader of the House of Representatives told 60 Minutes a couple of weeks ago that she "prayed for the President and for success in the Iraq". But that didn't stop her from encouraging a resolution to condemn Turkey (our major alley in War on Terror) for genocide nearly a hundred years ago. Turkey was outraged, withdrew its diplomats, and has now voted to conduct raids into Iraq for Kurdish rebels... something observers say would cause major instability in the region. Hey Nancy, if you REALLY want success in Iraq, perhaps it would help to stop trying to sabotage it at every opportunity! Haw-haw! See Chick's SABOTAGE.

Harry Potter Character Outed by Author

The wizard principal of Hogwarts is gay, according to author of Harry Potter. The politically correct audience cheered when she announced the news in speech. The revelation is bound to add further condemnation from those who believe the books about witchcraft are Satanically inspired. See Chick's THE TRICK. Richard Roberts steps down as president of ORU

Richard Roberts, the president of Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma and son of pioneering televangelist Oral Roberts, has asked the Board of Regents for a leave of absence.

Roberts is stepping away from the university which bears his father's name after a lawsuit was filed against the school by former professors. Among the allegations made in the lawsuit, Richard Roberts used university finances for his own and his family's personal use, and Richard's wife Lindsey had inappropriate contact with an underage male on several occasions. The Roberts family denies the allegations.

Oral Roberts himself, now 89 and retired in California, said he was shocked by the allegations, but asserted that the university will weather the storm of controversy.

Controversy is not new to Oral Roberts Ministries, the university, or to the Roberts family. The elder Roberts in 1980 claimed to have witnessed a vision of a 900 foot Jesus, built the now-defunct medical center after promising that the medical center would find a cure for cancer, and in 1987 claimed that if he could not raise the funds necessary to fund medical missionaries, that God "would call me home."

Lavish spending and financial misappropriation have circulated around the Roberts since the 1970s when Patti Roberts, the first wife of Richard Roberts, wrote "From Ashes to Gold" detailing how the Roberts begged for money over television and lavishly used it for themselves. The Oral Roberts ministry began a string of scandals for televangelism in the late 1980s.

Chick Publications made fun of Oral Roberts in one of the tracts when Chick depicted an unnamed evangelist telling an audience "Send me money or I'll die."

Vatican Official Insists He's Not Gay

In follow up to the previous story, a Vatican official suspended after being caught on hidden camera making advances to a young man says he is not gay and was only pretending to be gay as part of his work.

In an interview published Sunday, Monsignor Tommaso Stenico told La Repubblica daily he frequented online gay chat rooms and met with gay men as part of his work as a psychoanalyst. He said that he pretended to be gay in order to gather information about "those who damage the image of the Church with homosexual activity."

The Vatican said Saturday it was suspending Stenico after he was secretly filmed making advances to a young man and asserting that gay sex was not sinful during a television program on gay priests broadcast Oct. 1 on La7, a private Italian television network.

There have long been allegations that there are gays in the Roman Catholic priesthood, but the Stenico case is unusual because he is a relatively high-ranking Vatican official. He heads an office in the Vatican's Congregation for Clergy _ the main office overseeing all the world's priests.

The case comes at a particularly sensitive time, just two years after the Vatican issued tough new guidelines effectively barring gays from the priesthood _ seen in large part as a response to complaints about a "gay subculture" in U.S. seminaries.

"It's all false; it was a trap. I was a victim of my own attempts to contribute to cleaning up the church with my psychoanalyst work," La Repubblica quoted Stenico as saying.

Stenico said he had met with the young man and pretended to talk about homosexuality "to better understand this mysterious and faraway world which, by the fault of a few people _ among them some priests _ is doing so much harm to the church," La Repubblica quoted him as saying.

This is almost the same line that the U.S. senator from Idaho, Larry Craig gave to his constituents, and that former pastor and evangelical leader Ted Haggard used on his congregation! Would it be neat to go back to the good old days when sex scandals were heterosexual in nature??? At least that's NORMAL behavior!!! The public owes an apology to Jim Bakker, Jimmy Swaggart, and Bill Clinton! At least they were STRAIGHT!

Vatican bars cleric who spoke of gay sex!

The Vatican said Saturday it has suspended a monsignor from a senior post at the Holy See after an Italian TV program using a hidden camera recorded him making advances to a young man and asserting that gay sex was not sinful.

The Vatican did not identify the monsignor by name, but Monsignor Tommaso Stenico confirmed in a telephone interview with The Associated Press that he had been suspended from his post at the Vatican's Congregation for Clergy, an office which aims to ensure proper conduct by priests.

"Don't condemn me," Stenico said, adding that the program "was done fraudulently" because it used a hidden camera.

In the program on private Italian network La7, a man identified as a priest is heard saying that he "didn't feel he was sinning" by having sex with gay men.

The Rev. Federico Lombardi, a Vatican spokesman, said the Italian monsignor was suspended while the case was under investigation.

While the Vatican rarely comments on individual sex scandals, this case directly touched the Holy See, apparently prompting the confirmation of the report.

Vatican teaching holds that homosexual activity is a sin.

The man La Repubblica identified as the Vatican official can be heard saying that "he didn't feel he was sinning" by having sex with gay men and asking his visitor if he liked him.

Vatican Prints Secrets of Knights Templar

The Knights Templar, the medieval Christian military order accused of heresy and sexual misconduct, will soon be partly rehabilitated when the Vatican publishes trial documents it had closely guarded for 700 years.

A reproduction of the minutes of trials against the Templars, "'Processus Contra Templarios -- Papal Inquiry into the Trial of the Templars"' is a massive work and much more than a book -- with a $8,333 price tag.

"This is a milestone because it is the first time that these documents are being released by the Vatican, which gives a stamp of authority to the entire project," said Professor Barbara Frale, a medievalist at the Vatican's Secret Archives.

The Templars, whose full name was "Poor Fellow-Soldiers of Christ and of the Temple of Solomon," were founded in 1119 by knights sworn to protecting Christian pilgrims visiting the Holy Land after the Crusaders captured Jerusalem in 1099.

They amassed enormous wealth and helped finance wars of some European monarchs. Legends of their hidden treasures, secret rituals and power have figured over the years in films and bestsellers such as "The Da Vinci Code."

The Knights have also been portrayed as guardians of the legendary Holy Grail, the cup used by Christ at the Last Supper before his crucifixion.

The most titillating part of the documents is the so-called Chinon Parchment, which contains phrases in which Pope Clement V absolves the Templars of charges of heresy, which had been the backbone of King Philip's attempts to eliminate them.

Templars were burned at the stake for heresy by King Philip's agents after they made confessions that most historians believe were given under duress.

Their initiation ceremony is believed to have included spitting on the cross, but Frale said they justified this as a ritual of obedience in preparation for possible capture by Muslims. They were also said to have practiced sodomy.

Priests told not to wear clergy collars in public

In England, a new report by National Churchwatch, an independent organization which provides clergy with personal safety advice, warns priests are often targeted more than other professions as they are considered unlikely to fight back.

Falling congregations and an education system which focuses on understanding all faiths has made the Church of England priest more at risk.

Five vicars have been murdered in the past decade, and a 2001 study found that 12 percent of clergy had suffered some form of violence.

Around half of all assaults on clergy occur away from the vicarage and the report highlighted the importance of the "clerical collar" in making them more vulnerable.

The most recent murder of a vicar happened in March of 2007.

Father Paul Bennett, 59, was stabbed in the grounds of his church in Trecynon, near Aberdare, South Wales. Geraint Evans, 24, a local resident, is due to stand trial for his murder.

Interestingly enough, this decline in England for respect of clergy and Christianity in general is ironic given that Great Britain gave the English speaking world the King James Bible and sent missionaries all over the world. The United Kingdom is now unofficially a non-Christian nation as Muslims immigrants have taken over! Jack Chick believes that the judgment of God has fallen on the United Kingdom because they did not help Jews during World War II. See Chick's SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL JEW

Talliban Terrorists Murder 15-Year-Old

Talliban terrorists in Afghanistan hanged a 15-year-old boy yesterday for having five American dollars in his pocket. They stuffed the bills in the boys gaping jaw. This horrific terrorist act got one mention on the radio, while American hazing of prisoners in Iraq was shown in graphic detail on all of the major TV newscasts month after month.

Isn't it odd how we feel terrible for letting our forces play mind games with jailed murderers, while the so-called religious fighters we're stuggling against will saw off the heads of their captives and hang children for having the wrong type of money? If only the terrorists felt 1/10th the guilt for causing one million times the suffering... See Chick's MEN OF PEACE?
