Chickcomics.com welcomes all opinions from any religion or viewpoint in the common appreciation of Chick tracts. This blog, however, will highlight religious events and controversies that would be of special interest to regular Chick readers. You don't have to agree with them or each other, but if you read Chick tracts or Battlecry, you might expect these type stories to be addressed. (Sorry, no personal attacks allowed.) Florida GOP congressman pulls a Clinton-- on a guy!

One of our Republican Congressmen tried to pull a Clinton on one of the young interns, only the page was a GUY and blew the whistle on him (and fortunately, nothing else!) If he were a Democrat, he could have fought it, saying it was "his personal life, yada, yada, yada" but knowing the right would not put up with his stunt, he promptly resigned. That gives the GOP one month to find a replacement. (Hopefully one without a fondness for the staff.) See Chick's THE GAY BLADE.

New older photo of Chick is posted on net

Dedicated Democratic Blogger Scoobie Davis (a serious Chick collector, despite Chick leaning far more to the right) posted a new image of Chick from his high school yearbook days. Thanks Scoobie!

Castro wanna-be, Hugo C. goes crazy in UN

Hugo Chavez, the Socialist leader of Venezuela who served time for trying to overthrow the government and eventually become the President, gave what is sure to be considered the most over-the-top fanatical speech in the UN ever-- even topping the classic Russian tirade where the Communist President pounded the podium with his shoe! This time, Chavez repeatedly insisted Bush was literally the devil, and wanted to enslave all the world and commit genocide like Hitler. (Ah yes, the Hitler comparison. That's a new one.) Then Chavez went on to a liberal college (Cooper College) in New York and again went on about how evil Bush is, and how stupid the US was to elect him. He received a standing ovation. I guess the students were unaware the official Democratic response is to condemn Chavez for his personal attack. The top Democrats in Washington who criticized Chavez are worried they will suffer a backlash for inspiring the vilification. Why didn't Chavez go all out and call Bush THE BEAST?

Christians United for Israel on NPR

As part of her regular Christian bashing series, Terry Gross brought on two critics of Christian Zionism for NPR's FRESH AIR radio series. Then she interviewed John Hagee, the founder of the Cornerstone Church in San Antonio. He explained his group, Christians United for Israel, a group that advocates Israel not giving up any of the annexed land back to the occupied natives (in exchange for peace). Hagee doesn't believe peace is possible, and those who divide Israel in any way will be cursed. He also expressed his beliefs that New Orleans brought on its own judgment by the Hurricane by planning a big Gay Pride parade on the day the flooding happened. Both beliefs are in line with what Chick preaches in his tracts. See Chick's DOOM TOWN.

Pope apology fails to quill violence

Now it's getting stupid. The Pope apologizes for quoting someone who criticized Islam for being too violent, so what do the Muslims do? They demonstrate, burn dummies of the Pope, riot, and murder a nun. I'm not sure, but I think they just proved the inflammatory quote was accurate! See Chick's MEN OF PEACE?

The Pope apologizes... kinda

The Pope says he's sorry Muslims were offended by his recent quotes from a Roman emperor who called Islam "brutal and inhuman". The Pope did not say he disagreed with the quote, or that he was sorry he said it, but that it was interpreted the wrong way. Meanwhile, some of his Muslim critics compared the German Pope to Hitler. (Boy, that's original.) Imagine what they would say if they read Chick's full color comic, the Prophet, which credits the Vatican for creating Islam. If true, someone needs to remind them to "honor thy father"? Haw-haw! See Chick's THE DECEIVED.

Jap war experiments resurface

A Japanese nurse breaks her 6o year silence to reveal she was one of many who were forced to dig mass graves for germ warfare victims and hide the evidence before the Americans arrived to occupy the country. Most American's are unaware that it was Japan, not the Nazis, who conducted brutal experiments on their P.O.W.s The Nazis treated their POW according to convention regulations, but brutalized their native political prisoners. The Japs did not recognize the conventions at all, and tortured, beheaded, and conducted gruesome experiments on prisoners of war, including American soldiers. Most Americans are unaware of this, because Hollywood is obsessed with making movies showing German atrocities. (Some critics say it's a Jewish bias, but it's more likely they fear being called racists if they depict a minority group as a villain.) Historically, it was the Germans who faced the sensational trials and mass executions after the war for war crimes, and the Japanese got off easy. I heard about this double standard in my youth, having been told how my great uncle Dan, a doctor for the Navy, was recaptured after escaping from a Japanese prison ship. He was injected with disease and observed while he died. What does this have to do with religion? The biggest culprit of all, the Japanese emperor, the one man who could have stopped the brutality, was never brought to justice but aloud to continue his life of luxury as the nation's leader and Shinto God on Earth. How's that for turning the other cheek?

Navy Chaplain fights "inclusive" prayers

A Navy Chaplain is convicted for disobeying a direct order when he gave a press conference in uniform to protest removing Jesus from military prayers. (The Navy decided Jesus wasn't "inclusive", and the Chaplain feels, like Chick, that generic prayers are phony.) He says he'll appeal it all the way up to the President, and then to God if need be. See Chick's THE CHAPLAIN.

9ll remembered, and censored?

The news is filled with "looking back on 9/11" specials. Also heard on the news, liberal activists threatened NBC with boycotts if they produced a "docu-drama" that showed Clinton basically ignored the Islamic terrorist threat during his term, including the first attempt on the world trade towers and at least two opportunities to kill Ben Laden. (Aren't these the same guys who've been blaming Bush for everything? Guess they can dish it out but they can't take it, haw-haw!) NBC caves in-- big surprise-- and agrees to change the content of the show. Chick however, shows no sign of avoiding controversy by addressing either 9/11 or the Islamic threat in general. He just reissued one of his most inflammatory tracts, ALLAH HAD NO SON, with an all Negro cast! The new tract is called WHO IS ALLAH?

Iran's Holocaust comic strip show gets little uproar

Remember after the comic strips that poked fun at Islam started all the riots overseas, Iran promised to hold a show displaying Holocaust comics and see how the West liked it? Well, it came, it went, and no response. Of course, to be fair, if someone in the West had dared to even run ONE such comic, heads would have rolled! But the media has basically ignored the anti-Jewish cartoon show and let the Iranians do what they want. Maybe they'll get more attention once they develop A-bombs and start lobbing them at infidels.

NPR helps Mormon Spin Control

Since the recent arrest of the leader of the Fundamentalist Church of Latter Day Saints has caused bad PR for the mainline version of the Mormon Church (Jeffs was charged with rape for marrying underage girls to older men), the folks at NPR made a big point to say the two church's are NOT affiliated. But of course, they are very much related to one another. They use the same text and believe in most of the same theology. They may not be officially affiliated, but they have far more in common than they lack. See Chick's THE VISITORS.

Two new tracts and a new book from Chick

September sees not one, but TWO new tracts drawn by Jack Chick. One is a Negro version of BEST FRIENDS, renamed (with black characters) as SOUL SISTERS. The other one is a story about a kid who almost gets her cat sacrificed, called HERE KITTY KITTY. It's drawn in the style of PEANUTS, the Charles Schultz cartoon strip. Chick may be up there in years, but he's not adverse to trying new things! And if that were not enough, the release of a new book on the origins of the Catholic virgin Mary is fully illustrated by Chick, called BABYLON RELIGION. It's 224 pages long and stuffed full of really good Chick toons! The author is David Daniels, who's written two other books with Chick illustrations thus far.
